Failure Propagation models for GMPLS-based Networks

چکیده
In this paper a survey of the main proposals to simulate in Transport Networks is presented. A new model focused on GMPLS-based networks is proposed. The proposal is evaluated and results show that the model is able to simulate different failure propagation scenarios. Results also offer identifying what are the critical parts of the network when a failure propagation occurs in order to protect and minimize the impact of a failure.

Epidemic Network Failures in Optical Transport Networks
This paper presents a failure propagation model for transport networks which are affected by epidemic failures. The network is controlled using the GMPLS protocol suite. The Susceptible Infected Disabled (SID) epidemic model is investigated and new signaling functionality of GMPLS to support epidemic failure resolution is proposed. The results provide important input to service recovery mechani...
متن کاملA Bayesian Networks Approach to Reliability Analysis of a Launch Vehicle Liquid Propellant Engine
This paper presents an extension of Bayesian networks (BN) applied to reliability analysis of an open gas generator cycle Liquid propellant engine (OGLE) of launch vehicles. There are several methods for system reliability analysis such as RBD, FTA, FMEA, Markov Chains, and etc. But for complex systems such as LV, they are not all efficiently applicable due to failure dependencies between compo...
متن کاملAn Analytical Approach to Shared Backup Path Provisioning in GMPLS Networks
As GMPLS and its supporting set of protocols develop into a viable control plane for optical networks, an important function that they will need to support will be the restoration and protection function that has been a major feature of legacy optical networks. Several models have been proposed for protection with GMPLS using shared backup paths. This previous work has not investigated the effe...
متن کاملFailure propagation in GMPLS optical rings: CTMC model and performance analysis
Network reliability and resilience has become a key design parameter for network operators and Internet service providers. These often seek ways to have their networks fully operational for at least 99.999% of the time, regardless of the number and type of failures that may occur in their networks. This article presents a continuous-time Markov chain model to characterise the propagation of fai...
متن کاملDifferences between Ason and Gmpls Network Models
Generalized multiprotocol label switching (GMPLS) [1] is a set of network control protocols designed to realize a next-generation highperformance transport network that uses control plane functions. From the architectural perspective, GMPLS-based transport networks are divided into two categories. One is the automatically switched optical network (ASON) architecturebased transport network [2] o...
